Rufus Failed To Scan Image
So you should have a disk image files for installation when you buy Windows PC. If not, you can download Windows ISO from Microsoft and use Rufus to create a bootable USB drive. Open Boot Camp from the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder and it will guide you through installing Windows on your Mac.
So today I've decided to delete Ubuntu from my dual-boot(the other being Windows 7) and I restarted but I needed a bootable USB or CD with the Windows 7 ISO. I didn't have either so I downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium x64 from a site onto a USB and tried booting but I end up with:BOOTMRG is missingPress any key to restarterror: no such partitionEntering rescue mode.grub rescue This would be in the command prompt.
I assume that the ISO is bootable, I downloaded it from here: it is not bootable, can someone guide me somewhere to make it bootable or a bootable ISO download file?I do have a valid Windows 7 Home Premium x64 key if anyone is curious.This is an HP PavilionAny help is appreciated.Thank you.
Can someone please help me? I am having trouble creating a bootable iso image of Windows 7 in the 64-bit version of Windows XP SP 2. Every time I try, I keep getting a 'image extraction failure' error.I tried searching for this error, here, but all I found was a similar topic where an antivirus program seemed to be the culprit with autorun.inf, (see ) but that doesn't seem to be my problem as I tried disabling all programs not related to the necessary operation of the OS, which didn't work.

Without the log it is difficult for me to identify what the issue might be.Also, before generate a log that, I would encourage you to test with the latest beta of Rufus, which you can download.Finally, is your Windows 7 ISO and official ISO from Microsoft, or one that you created manually? I remember getting a report from someone who used an ISO that they created themselves, and getting the following error: Extracting: H: (472 bytes)Unable to create file: 0x00000003 The system cannot find the path specified.This is why, if you provide a log, I may get a better idea what your issue might relate to. Unfortunately, I do not have the logs anymore, so I'd have to run the program again and then copy the logs down. The ISO I am dealing with was indeed created by me, but the 'System cannot find the path specified' error doesn't sound familiar to me of what was in the log file.However, according to the FAQ, it mentioned to try other programs that do the same thing. So I tried the Universal-USB-Installer - version 1.9.3.6, but didn't seem to get any errors whatsoever.So I have 2 steps to try. Try a test install with the ISO I created with Universal-USB-Installer.if that works, then great. If step 2 doesn't work, then I will attempt to reproduce the original error I got & be sure to post the log results here.I will let you know what happens ASAP.
Hi Andre,I'm not sure what the deal is with these Windows 'All-In-One' ISOs, but it looks like they are created in a special way that makes them incompatible with Rufus. The first thing I'd like to find out, then, is what the original name of that 424 bytes files that seems to be causing the issue is.Can you try to open the ISO (using 7-zip or some other tool) and figure out where that 424 bytes file resides and what its name is? Also did you modify this AIO ISO in any way, or did you use the latest 'Windows 8 + Server 2012 AIO 19 in 1' that can be found from a popular torrent site? If I knew what exactly that 424 byte file that is causing the issue is, I may be able to do something about it.Since I don't have access to a Windows All-In-One ISO at the moment, and downloading 6 GB just to be able to test this issue is something I'd like to avoid, do you know if there exists smaller AIO ISO that I could try to download and that has the same issue?Also, just to make sure this isn't something that has already been fixed (you never know) can you please run a test with the and confirm that you still have the issue?Thanks. The error code displayed in the log from OP ( 0x00000003 The system cannot find the path specified) is different from yours ( 0x00000005 Access is denied), so please avoid piggybacking on an issue just because the global message looks the same.There can be many causes to an ISO extraction failure. The issue that OP had was fixed and, as such this issue should have remained closed.This being said, your problem has to do with your antivirus or whatever security addon you have installed, such as Panda USB vaccine or ESET Smart Security, that are preventing leigitimate applications, such as Rufus, from creating an autorun.inf.

There's an entry in the about this.As there is nothing I can do within Rufus to prevent false positives, you will have to either change your security application, or take it to the makers of said app and indicate that it is preventing legitimate software from doing its job. Every single report I have ever received about: Error reading UDF file /boot/en-us/bootsect.exe.muiturned out to be a corrupted ISO.Please compare the SHA1Sum of your ISO with the one from Microsoft.And, since you truncated the log, which prevents me from seeing the actual name of the ISO you used, you will have to figure out where to find the SHA1 by yourself.Finally, hijacking an existing issue is very much frown upon. This issue is about a completely different problem involving Windows 7, that was fixed. Yours is with Windows 10.
