BFR 2 did that in vista. I tried and tried to fix it. But never found a fix.Maybe with 7's new registry calls I can find the issue.I reinstalled it tonight myself to test.vista had issues with all the star wars NOTOR 1 AND 2 GAMES also.lucas arts? The problem then lies with what sound system you're using.For example, I'm not running RealTek. I don't get an option to re-enable my sound devices.When I follow the instructions as posted above, all I can do is disable my speakers, but when I re-enable them, my sound returns and BF2 crashes again.So far, any solutions offered (but in this thread and the other similar one) have been based around playing without sound (pointless), or enabling the Realtek sound (which I don't even have).Any other ideas, folks? Hi Pete!I got a solution, vvery similar to yours, but it saves you having to wear headphones.I plugged a set of phono headphones directly into the MICROPHONE socket on the front of my PC. It should work for Windows Vista and Windows 8, confiimed working for Windows 7.First, run the game in compatibility mode for 'Windows XP service pack 2' To do this go the the EXE file of the game and click properties compatibility run in compatibility for.' Windows XP service pack 2'Second, go to control panel hardware and sound manage audio devices recording. Then right click and check 'Show disabled devices' and 'Stereo Mix' should come up.

Right click Stereo Mix and enable it. Star Wars Battlefront II should work flawlessly with sound. If 'Stereo Mix' doesn't show, then you must download.
